KVGM “The Last Wave” (7/17/22)

Do you hear that sound? Can you feel it? The cool ocean breeze in your hair, the salt on your tongue. It’s the smooth crash of the Last Wave on KVGM with your host, Hammock, bringing you thirty minutes of the best video game jams(z) from all your favorite composers and consoles, each and every week from our beachside studio in sunny Aqua City Island. Sit back, relax, and get ready to catch…the Last Wave.

Next week, Hammock heads off on a much-deserved vacation (don’t worry, new episodes will still drop) but in the meantime, let’s go back to simpler times when maids were customizable, golfing was about boyz having fun, parties were simulated, buddies bonded on missions, high school baseball was more than just training, and mahjong was sexy. Plus we’ve got Yuzo Koshiro, a classic, bringing you something extra special from the Nintendo DS.

Of course, after I recorded the episode, I figured out the composer of City Bravo! Business Hen is Ken Tamura but maybe not THE Ken Tamura…but a Ken Tamura. But if it is THE Ken Tamura, that is incredible. But don’t get your hopes up. Otherwise, it’s back to the convenience store, back to the Legend of Heroes and Rockman series, and of course, it wouldn’t be the Last Wave without some gratuitous adult visual novel sleaze. ENJOY!

Summer vacation is here, everyone is taking time off of work and school to relax in the sunshine and jam out to some of the very smoothest in VGM, sipping Arnold Palmtrees in the shade. Of course, KVGM is providing the beats, with some horse racing majesty, a little Chiki boom, Jerry Martin classing it up, wonderful skincare tips, Konami race action, and, of course, an adult visual novel for all the adults in the room.

It only happens once a year but today is that day, where the Last Wave and the Last Wave After Dark are released simultaneously. That means, if you’re not already a member of the Patreon, now’s the best time to get onboard and get access to a backlog of very special episodes devoted to soundtracks, composers, even special guests. It’s only $2.22 a month (hence the 22nd of every month) so it’s less than a cup of coffee but by supporting the show, you help us keep the lights on at the KVGM studio.

Of course, we’ve some classic composers in the house but also some new names. Plenty to dig into as we inch closer and closer to the 200th episode…and possibly the end of the Last Wave?
